Where is Chris Hansen?

by on November 5, 2014

Because we have been discussing people like Janet Cooke and what happened after it is known that they used fabricated information for their stories, I thought it would be interesting to see what Chris Hansen, the host of To Catch a Predator, has been up to since the show ended.

The last time new episodes of To Catch a Predator was in 2007, but reruns of the show were still being played on a weekly basis, according to a Thought Catalog article on why there needed to be new episodes of the show (apparently the author of this article forgot to do a quick Google search to see why the show was cancelled). I couldn’t find much about his time from 2007-2013, but he still had a contract with NBC, so I’m guessing he was working on various projects for them.

His contract with NBC was not renewed in 2013, not because of controversies surrounding the television series, but instead because of other questionable ethical decisions he made. After working for them for 20 years, NBC decided to not renew his contract two weeks after news surfaced that he had an affair with Kristyn Caddell. The two had met when she was a news reporter for NBC affiliate WPTV (which brings up the question of whether or not it’s ethical to date a coworker/source). The rumors leaked around 2011, but Hansen, a married man, blew them off by saying the two just went to dinner. After two years of silence, Caddell released pictures of the two of them kissing, because she was tired of being turned down for jobs because of the negative media surrounding her name.

Since then, it doesn’t seem as though Hansen has been up to anything noteworthy. His last tweet was from April 3rd, saying, “Gearing up for some new shows! Time to re-make Twitter page!”

I guess the “gotcha guy” got gotcha-ed himself. Funny how life works.
